Speech to Text Reporters

The ACE/Deafblind Registration Panel registers Speech to Text Reporters in one category:

Member of the Register of   Speech to Text Reporters

To be eligible for this category you must have passed the Level 3 Certificate for LSPs working with Deaf and Deafblind People (Verbatim Speech to Text Reporting) or meet the following criteria:

•  Member of the British Institute    of Verbatim Reporters (BIVR)    or hold an equivalent speed    qualification as agreed by the    ACE/Deafblind Registration Panel, i.e.    IPS, Pitmans, CART

•  Hold CACDP Level 1    Certificate in Deaf    Awareness

• Successfully complete two   endorsements by CACDP   trained endorsers undertaken   during live assignments

By becoming registered, Speech to Text Reporters are agreeing to be subject to the STTR Code of Practice and a Complaints and Disciplinary Procedure.

Although not compulsory for registration, we recommend that Speech to Text Reporters should be able to supply evidence of:

• CRB Enhanced Disclosure

• Professional Indemnity   Insurance (PII)
